Audit New Zealand is one of two
business units working for the
Controller and Auditor-General.
It carries out annual financial report
audits on the Auditor-General’s
behalf. It is the leading provider
of audit and assurance services to
the New Zealand public sector. A
large proportion of the audit work
undertaken by Audit New Zealand
is allocated by the Auditor-General.
However, it also competes with
private sector firms to provide
specialist services to the public
sector - in the areas of audit,
assurance, technical, and tax.
Audit New Zealand is able to share
a wealth of information in regard to
public sector auditing and assurance
issues.

The Aviation Security Service is a
separate service established by
the Civil Aviation Authority of New
Zealand pursuant to section 72B(2)
(
ca) of the Act.
Specific functions of the Aviation
Security Service include:

Screening all departing
international passengers and
baggage at all international
airports in New Zealand to ICAO
standards.
•

Screening all departing domestic
passengers and their baggage on
aircraft of 90 seats or more.
•
•
Providing 24 hour mobile
perimeter patrols at security
designated aerodromes.
•

Providing security services as
required, including aircraft guards,
aircraft searches and passenger
reconciliation.
•

Issuing Airport Identity Cards and
maintaining the National Airport
Identity Card database.
•
•
Providing advice on aviation
security to the Government and
the aviation industry.
